Defining One-way Synonyms
While group synonyms are bi-directional, one-way synonyms allow you to direct searches from one term to a preferred catalog term or terms.
To define a one-way synonym:

Go to Commerce > Marketing > Search > One-way Synonyms.

On the One-way Synonyms page, click New One-way Synonym.

On the One-way Synonym page, enter the search term in the Searching For box.
Note:This should be a search term your shopper might use but doesn’t find results for. For example, you can enter pants in the Searching For box.

In the Shows These Synonyms In Results box, enter one or more synonyms, separated by commas.
Note:These should be the synonyms you use most in your catalog for that product. For example, you can enter jeans and trousers in the Shows these synonyms in Results box.

If you use multiple websites, select the site where you want this one-way synonym to apply.

If your site uses multiple languages, select the language for this one-way synonym.

(Optional) To disable the one-way synonym, check the Inactive box.

(Optional) To add more one-way synonyms, click Save & New and repeat steps 3–7.

Click Save.
When you click Save, your search index automatically rebuilds to include these changes. When the search index is rebuilt successfully, you’ll see Synonyms Updated under Job Name on the Search Index Job Status page.
